Automotive Traffic safety Research Center is based on the doctoral program of traffic environment and safety technology in The School of Transportation.
In 2002, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of jilin University transportation engineering (traffic environment and safety technology) doctoral program, Jilin University approved the establishment of automotive traffic safety research center.

Theory and simulation technique, we use traffic accident mainly in vehicle dynamics, mechanics of the wheels on the ground, virtual reality technology, the traffic conflict technology, collision mechanics, trace, applied psychology, human ergonomics, computer image and database technology as the foundation, is engaged in the traffic accident scene reconnaissance technology, collision accident kinematics, dynamics, the accident process simulation technology, such as edge interdisciplinary sciences research, explore the theory and security technology of traffic accident reproduction, Research on traffic safety, traffic safety, vehicle safety, driving reliability, driver behavior, traffic safety economics analysis, traffic safety system and traffic safety countermeasures and evaluation system.
Laboratory with high speed camera recorder, CAR dynamics, driver behavior test system operation, the driver psychological test system, medium speed camera system, traffic accident simulation software PC - CRASH and the CAR, the traffic accident scene 2D mapping system, traffic accident scene 3D measurement system, psychological test driving simulation system, driving system, train CAR lateral dynamics simulation system.
Published 170 academic papers, presided over and undertook 34 scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the former Ministry of Machinery, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Department of Communications, and carried out approximately 1,100 for the traffic police departments, procuratorates and courts of the Ministry of Public Security. Analysis and appraisal of major traffic accidents, 6 textbooks and works have been published, and 6 national patents have been authorized.
