Android | Ui | Ux | Front End | Road Mapping | AB Testing
I joined BAM in Dec. 2012, where I helped merge 2 apps into one simplified & modern product with over 10,000,000 installs on Google Play. During my time as the Lead Designer at BAM I contributed to the product in many different ways; from planning out features and road mapping, project management, business development, managing a Jr. Designer, and of course product design. I also became the leading force behind the apps front-end controlling all of the XML and support of all the different devices that Android offers. Check out Best Apps Market here.
Striving for a great user experience I was able to use Material Design’s new Floating Action Button (FAB) design pattern to change how users search in BAM. Users can modify their search with the FAB by tapping and adding new traits, sorts and filters, or enter a text based editor right from these few badges and text.
Making sure apps look right on phones and tablets is important to me so I took on the front end engineering of BAM so that the app can be pixel perfect on as many devices as possible. It has been a great way to learn more about what is possible (during time constraints) and has given me to think about how something will be built when I am going through the design process.
As with ever feature or change I am advocate of sketching and wire-framing on paper, white boards, or the computer. I find it to be a great way to get the cobwebs out of the mind and really boil and idea down to the best it can be.
BAM has changed a lot since I joined the team in December 2012 . ;)
